Mashini Devata: a WIP game by brotoad

Some of you may have already seen this, I've shown it to a few people and if you follow me on DeviantART you might have seen it already!

Anyway, this is a game i'm making, it's the story of a mining robot named Dex who at first has a fairly relaxed life, until the plans of a mysterious organisation known as proxy start to unfold.

Many of the characters here are just NPCs. See, i want every NPC in the game to be completely unique!

This guy here is Hammy, he is the first midboss of the game. He was built for the mundane task of stomping nails into place, but Confickers radio tower causes him and other less advanced droids to become agressive

I'm not currently looking for any help but if you have any ideas feel free to share them!

I'm planning on releasing a demo once the first mission is completed, to hopefully get people excited for the full game! It will be completely free, don't worry, though i will add a donate button if you want to support!
I'm not doing this for the money, I'm doing it because I want to make a game and tell a story!

aye, minecraft has been good to me and i wanted to give it a cameo!
it's a background prop in a junkyard, examining it will say
"a criminal robot who was deactivated for destoying many buildings"

I'm still alive much to the chagrin of many!

But yes, this is without a doubt one of the most creative ideas for a game I've ever heard of - this stuff is genius.  I've been genuinely impressed with every aspect that Brotoad has told me about.

You gotta love Brotoad's sprites, they're fantastic.

Looks like the type of game that will make my hands bleed from overplaying ;)
Be sure to add many secrets so that people will be talking about getting a 100% completion for many years!
One of the reasons i liked the metroid games so much :)

How far are you on the project? I like the idea, will the characters have different weapons? And since you're aiming with the mouse, does this mean you can aim anywhere?

i haven't started making the actual game yet.
each character has their own weapon
dex has a standard laser gun.
skorch has a flamethrower
golem uses a shovel that can deflect bullets
tesla has an electric stun gun. it does more damage to airborne enemies, causing them to crash to the ground
blammo uses a kind of grenade he invented that can also be used as a baseball bat weapon.

each character can also find special upgrades. the only one i have so far is that skorch can get a baloon that combines with his flamethrower. aiming upward after a jump lets him use it as a small handheld hotair balloon for gliding.

and yes, you'll be able to aim anywhere, though bullets will not go through walls.

i hope this game becomes another Cave Story...i'd like to see it become a Smash hit!
