I don't hate nor dislike touhou in the slightest.
Nor do I like it.

I hate a majority of the fanbase that prioritise putting Touhou in everything and bringing it up in every single unrelated discussion.

Don't be offended by this

A majority of forum games are infected by touhou because of people like Alucard and chuggaafan1 bringing it up for no apparent reason. It's also everywhere in Anything Goes, which is why the only thread I ever read in that division is the Spamthread.

Last comment I'll probably make in this thread: I'm fine with the games, I extremely hate a majority of the fanbase.

There are people like Nue Houjuu/Sunny Milk that give touhou a good name.

There are also some (who I will not mention) who give it a bad name.

Whether or not you are good or not, you can decide.[/opinion]

And Llama just accurately summed up why I quit the community. I still enjoy the games and the music, but I grew to hate the community for shoving it down everyone's throats everywhere. They gave the series a bad name, so I left.

Even when I was a huge Touhou fan a year back, barely anyone ever knew that I liked it. Since I never brought it up ever unless there was a reason to bring it up.

So with that, I'll probably exit the topic unless it gets out of hand or I have something to say.

Fans: Fine, they don't include it in everything (examples of fans are Nue and those who just play the games)
Fanatics: These people place it everywheres and do everything in their power to prolong it/promote it and love it as much as possible. They do anything in their power to keep it alive, which then it grows into everything else and covers stuff.
These both apply to mainly every single overrated thing I can think of.

I'm indifferent to the series in general, as I like the games and such. However, there is a limit to how much a game can overstay it's welcome and it's novelty, and Touhou is one of the offenders of that, spreading to everywhere I can think of (there's been touhouvania, touhou megaman, touhou this, touhou that) even reimu and remilia in Castlevania Fighter, WHY. Heck, all those games are just: Replace main character of popular series with touhou character, add new weapons characters and stuff pertaining to touhou, ???, PROFIT (not to say that they aren't good, as I have enjoyed playing some of em. It's just that you can do the SAME THING with the original source.)

I'm rather more a fan for the underplayed/underknown games and such, and I try to avoid the overplayed/loved stuff. And honestly, touhou is definitely in the overplayed category  :| . So yeah, I don't mind it, but I don't love it, either.
This is just my opinion, of course.

I guess I should apologize for making such a ridiculous amount of Touhou skins? :L

Anyway, I'm too tired to make a more detailed post, but yeah, overhyped, oversaturated, insane fanbase with insane memes, but I still find some aspects of the series enjoyable. (Mainly the whimsical cast of characters)
