Super Smash Bros Brawl Mods
« on: January 04, 2013, 08:11:41 AM »
NOTE:I am discussing the methods of modding Brawl that DON'T involve hacking your Wii. I have no idea if the rules permit us to discuss hacking your Wii or anything of the sort, though I don't see why they wouldn't. Clarification on that would be nice.

Anyway, for the longest time I wanted to mod Brawl, but couldn't because I didn't want to hack my Wii. Then came...

THIS HANDY-DANDY TUTORIAL on DeviantArt (which was unexpected).

As such, I've begun modding Brawl like no other. I was wondering if anyone else was a fan of playing modded Brawl?

If you've never modded Brawl, also, feel free to read that tutorial and ask me for help getting you started.

Most recently I got the Melee Mewtwo mod, a fantastic mod that ports Mewtwo pretty much straight over from Melee to be him in Brawl. Its really fantastic, especially considering I don't really care for Lucario.

So anyway, discuss. Though I'm betting not too many people here are into this.

+1 Me and Smunch are avid Brawl enthusiasts that partake in the enjoyment of texturing and modding of Brawl. I have several youtube videos (2 really) that capture our Brawl state (however that was several months ago if not a year).

and

Our Brawl hacks have changed since then and we use the handy dandy Brawl Vault for our texture needs. We focus mainly on stages, removing the crummy old ones (Hanenbow and 75M) along with adding new music (listening to Opa Gangnam style on Falcon Destination or Miror. B's theme on Saffron City is always quite rewarding.)

Yes, you too can play Meta-Knight without getting dirty looks and punched in the face when you win all the time!

The past couple of days I've been going on download sprees by browsing through BrawlVault and getting all the coolest characters, as well as learning how to change CSPs.

Needless to say, Brawl is a LOT cooler now, and I have more reason to use characters I never bothered with before.

I'm currently looking into the possibility of using this nifty little code I found that is meant to let you load a second set of PSAs by holding L at the character select. If it works, I'll be one happy camper.

I tried that once, it worked but I had no room on my sd card afterwards. Silly 2 GB limit.

PROJECT M BECAUSE YES
« Reply #7 on: February 22, 2013, 02:09:02 AM »
Bumping this topic because Project: M's a thing.
"WHAT'S PROJECT: M" you say?

Simply put, Project: M is a Brawl hack that makes the game a lot smoother, a lot faster, and overall much more enjoyable.
One thing that makes Project: M really cool though and I dunno if other hacks are capable of this but...
You can play Project: M without modifying/softmodding your Wii at all! (EDIT: Without using the tutorial in the OP)

All one needs to do is clear all special stages off the SD card, and the Wii itself, install Project: M on an SD card, and load the stage builder to start the boot process.

Oh yeah, Project: M also fixes the annoying input delay that plagues WiFi mode, making online play a breeze.
So to stop myself from sounding like a walking advertisement, I'll link you the site here.

If anybody is willing to play this online, just give me a holler and I'll be up for it!

Actually Project M installs the exact same way as the tutorial in the OP. They just have a fancy installer and stuff.

Anywho, I've recently hacked up my game like crazy, and with alternate file and stage loader, I can have twice as many character PSAs and an infinite number of stages. Its awesome!

Also, this is a fantastic stage pack.

I installed Project M and I'm enjoying it far more than regular ol' Brawl. My only gripe is that some characters are missing and the Pokemon Trainer's Pokemon are missing Final Smashes but I'm sure it'll be remedied sometime in the future.

I love most everything else about it and I highly recommend Project M.
