Target Blaster Competition #1 - FINISHED!
« on: November 17, 2011, 11:20:48 AM »

Greetings Mega Man Deathmatchers (that's totally a word now)! Today I present you with a different kind of competition. Not feeling to creative? Can't get a medal because you only know how to destroy? Have no fear! This competition is all about smashing things as fast as you can! It's simply delicious. All you have to do to enter is join a server and try to beat the current time! Simple no?

You are competing to get this medal:

To enter, simply download the wad file below and join the server Cutstuff Target Blaster Competition! Once you're in you will enter spectator mode. Join the queue and wait your turn. Once your turn arrives, it's blasting time! Gutsman's stage is filled with 20 targets that you must find and destroy as fast as you can! The best time is recorded, and a note of the player is logged in the server log file. When the competition closes, I will see which cutstuff member got the best time and they will be announced the winner!

    TIPS:
[li] You only get one try per turn. If the queue is huge and you don't feel like waiting, you can practice offline (type on the console "survival 1", then "map compo1").
[/li][li] You do not start with the Mega Buster, so you must use the weapons/ammo in the map the best you can.
[/li][li] The best time is only recorded if you beat it. That way there can only be one winner!
[/li][li] If your in-game name is not obvious, please state it in the chat of the server so I don't get confused.
[/li][li] The timer isn't actually accurate to real time, so we'll call them Capcom seconds™![/li][/list]

I only hope that this music will be in the wad:

So, quick question. Are we allowed to compete for this offline and post our screenshots? Or only the server?

I assume online only, to prevent cheating

I believe it's an American host. CMM wouldn't let that Luxembourg-ean guy host a tournament with all those lag spikes. Was it Scoldre?

It would be nice to have two hosts for different hemispheres here.
Mike hosting the Pepsi server for those in Europe/UK, and someone else (maybe me? :3) hosting a US one.

If anyone can host a reliable US server (for a whole week) I'm all ears. Otherwise it's pepsi. I'm hoping it won't be as mad with players spectating and not actually playing the game.

If I get my laptop and fix my router's ports, I can probably keep it plugged in and host a server for this. Although I'm not sure.
